ABOUT ADRIENNE NICOLE

Adrienne Nicole (Owens; born May 26, 1987) is an American film director, producer, photographer, and writer. Many of her music videos have been characterized in the press as mini horror films. Her photo and video work has appeared in print and online publications such as Rolling Stone, Time, Complex, Spin, NBC, The New Yorker, LA Times and MTV to name a few.

Adrienne Nicole’s mom saw that she had an eye for film. On her birthday, which was the last day of school in her junior year, her parents gave her a plane ticket to New York City to study at the School of Visual Arts. It was a summer program where the students made one short film; Adrienne made two. She immediately fell in love with the entire film making process and has never looked back.

Once she returned to high school for her senior year she made her way into the radio and television program. It was an elite program where only a select few made the cut. Not only did Adrienne Nicole make the cut but she was awarded with her own morning radio show Monday though Friday that was heard on local FM radio as well as Globally on-line. She did the color commentary for the women’s basketball team, as she had a strong knowledge of the game. Adrienne Nicole was previously a shooting guard and forward on the Nike Basketball Travel Team for Indiana. She was the technical director for several of the station’s television shows, running both audio and video boards.

Adrienne Nicole was recruited by numerous colleges and universities both academically and athletically but chose to enroll at Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL. Full Sail University is ranked as one of the top film, recording, and animation schools in the world as their state of the art facilities are second to none. While there Adrienne Nicole interned in the Avid Labs as well as shot on Arri and Panavision. She graduated at the age of 19 with a Bachelors of Science in Entertainment Business with emphasis in music and an Associates of Science in Film and Video. During college she worked on a production for the Style Network as well as wrote on a half-hour episodic animation series in development for comedian/actor Michael Winslow’s production company Vocal Vision. Directly after her undergrad degree she moved to Los Angles to work for C to the B Productions located at Gower Studios in Hollywood, CA. C to the B produced shows like Second Time Around on CW Network formally known as UPN and Hip Hop Harry on Discovery Kids. Adrienne Nicole also worked on Gene Simmons Family Jewels as well as represented music video director Joe Rey.

After two years of bouncing between New York and Los Angeles, she entered the Masters Program at the School Of Visual Arts. Adrienne Nicole obtained a Masters of Professional Studies in Live Action Short Film under Bob Giraldi.

Adrienne Nicole has since founded Sweet Shock Films and worked with Facts in Indiana, USA; DJ Pao C in Tokyo; Switch (Major Lazer Founder) in Harlow, UK; Hellfire Machina in New York, USA and much more before returning to NYC on her 25th birthday to work with the83rd, Covert and Angel Haze.

After directing Angel Haze’s New York Music Video, Haze was signed with global priority to Universal Music Group. Haze first project released was the New York EP, which used a frame from the music video that Adrienne Nicole shot and directed containing the infamous gas mask as its album cover as well as promotional materials (tickets, t-shirts, posters, etc.). Next Adrienne shot as well as directed videos for Tish Hyman, Imani Coppola, and Jeremy Nicolls. Gaining Adrienne Nicole press on DDotmen, Vibe, and MTV Brazil.

While Adrienne Nicole was working a photo gig for a Scion Award Show, she met famous street photographer Ricky Powell. Ricky asked Adrienne to join the Rickford Institute a collective of photographers selected by himself and partners. Adrienne sold two photographs in the first two hours of the Rickford Institute Fall Art Classic. Nine months after on her 26th birthday, May 26th 2013, she put on her first art show with Jacqsliver titled Filthy Gorgeous Silver at White Rabbit NYC.

Adrienne has expanded into producing and directing videos for brands and feature films. She has been invited to speak at both Full Sail University and School of Visual Arts NYC, her alma maters. Adrienne has a passion to take others dreams and turn them into a reality with never before seen visuals.
